[Gstat-info] variogram parameters

Hello,
Suppose I have lag distances and corresponding semi variance values. i would like to know whether fitting of some model (spherical / exponetial etc) is automatic or manual?
If it has to be automatic any literature, how to do this, any code or or literature in this regard.
